Fallen Flags

There have been several model railroads owned by members that no longer exist or are no longer active for a variety of reasons. Click on the name of the railroad to be taken to the corresponding page with a description of the layout and additional photos.

Laurel, Christon & Johnstown Railroad

This was the railroad of one of the founding members of HARM, Russ Cook. The layout was dismantled after Russ' passing in 2001. Several structures, most rolling stock, a few bridges, and even large sections of the layout have been distributed to group members to be incorporated into their layouts.

Deer Creek & Susquehanna Railroad (HO)

This was the second railroad constructed by Paul Wooddell in a basement room in his home. It was an HO version of a railroad that was proposed to be built as a branch of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad from Bel Air, MD to Stafford, MD. The railroad was dismantled in 2017 after Paul's passing in 2013. Several of the structures and much of the rolling stock have been distributed to group members or are in the possession of Paul's son, Scott, in hopes of rebuilding a smaller representation of the layout in the future.

Tidewater & Allegheny Railroad

This is the layout that several HARM members, notably Dave Renard and Scott Mills, worked on in several locations at the Edgewood area of Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The group was forced from their most recent location and had to dismantle the layout in 2014. Several of the structures, motive power, and rolling stock have found homes on other members' layouts or are in storage awaiting a time to run again.

Sylvania Central Railroad

This is the layout of founding member Dave Renard (MMR 35). It was dismantled in late 2016/early 2017. Almost all of the finely detailed structures have found homes on other members' layouts and even other club layouts as far away as New Jersey. Motive power and rolling stock have also been distributed to group members.

Back Bay Railroad

This was a small shed layout created by Steve Fisher to experiment with 3/8” scale railroad modeling. This layout has since been disassembled and converted into several highly detailed dioramas. Steve is currently working on reworking and expanding his On30 Deep Run Railroad.

Pennsylvania Railroad in Baltimore

Ken Meyer created magnificent scenes of the Pennsylvania Railroad running through various locations in and around Baltimore, MD. Sadly, Ken lost his battle with depression in June 2020.

Deep Run Railroad

Stephen Fisher was a master craftsman and built several model railroads in various scales throughout his modeling span. The Deep Run Railroad was a fictitious branchlike that ran through some of the towns near his home on the eastern shore of Maryland. Sadly, Steve passed away on July 29, 2024 of a rare form of cancer.
